Pocketweb's management team continues pursuit of the outdoors

After having survived the "Challenge Wanaka" Team Iron Man competition in January the Pocketweb Management Team has continued to pursue the outdoors. An update ...

Sydney, Australia/Wanaka, New Zealand, 27 September, 2010 - In March and basically right after the Challenge Wanaka, Michael and Tony wanted to stay in shape and participated in the Motatapu Mountain Bike Race which is a very scenic 50km ride in awesome countryside from Glendhu Bay, Wanaka to the historic and beautiful Arrowtown. The first seven kilometres are on gravel road, then you continue up the Motatapu Valley on a well maintained farm trail climbing gradually over undulating terrain, with several small stream crossings, until topping out at 887m when you reach the 35km mark. The course descends gently until it reaches a steep, rocky descent down the Soho Creek into the famous Macetown track. There are several river crossings over the last 8km on a gravel track. Depending on recent rainfall, rivers can be up to thigh deep (heaps of info and entry forms are at www.iconicadventures.co.nz).

Another highlight was the Harbour Bridge Run in Sydney in September where Hanno participated. Being part of the Sydney Running Festival this 9km run starts at Milson's Point, crosses the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and concludes through the Botanic Garden before it finishes it in front of the Sydney Opera House (www.sydneyrunningfestival.com.au).

Also in September Alexander finished the Berlin Marathon, one of the largest and most popular road races in the world. Along with four other venues it forms the World Marathon Majors, a series offering a $1 million prize purse to be split equally between the top male and female marathoners. The most marathon world records for men and women have been set at the Berlin course, which is known for its flat profile, even surface, a cheering spectator crowd, and its frequently mild autumn temperatures (www.berlin-marathon.com).

With Michael being a Snow Board Instructor and Hanno and Alexander being Surf Life Savers in Sydney the team also participates in an active community life.

The team values outdoor activities to balance hard work and business travels and encourages employees and new hires to join in.
